Malawi Leader President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, has today participated in the 2024 Presidential Charity Golf Tournament which took place at Limbe Country Club. Before the tournament commenced, participants observed a minute of silence in honor of the late Vice President Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima. The tournament, now in its third edition, began yesterday and has drawn over 180 golfers. It will follow the 2-ball better ball stableford format. Proceeds from the initiative will support needy university students and Cyclone Freddy survivors. In September this year, President Chakwera, launched the 2024 Presidential Golf Initiative, at Kamuzi Palace in Lilongwe where he unveiled , NBS, as a diamond sponsor having given K155 million towards the initiative. This year’s event has been slated for October 11th and 12th at the Country Club Limbe Golf Course in Blantyre. The current initiative is targeting to raise K600Million the amount which has already been realised.
