MCP Secretary General Elsenhower Mkaka cautions regional party officials against tampering with electoral collage

Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Secretary General Elsenhower Mkaka has ordered all its regional offices to avoid tampering with the list of electoral collage.

This is the number of eligible voters per region, and constituency.

In a statement the Secretary General is reminding delegates that only those that are on records are the one’s to attend the forthcoming convention, should there be any vacancies in the regional committees his office will sanction the filling on the same in accordance with the constitution.

“It follows therefore that any attempt to ursup the powers of the Constitution by filling vacancies in the Regional Committees at this stage is ultra vires,” reads part of the statement.

This directive comes amid rumours that officials in the some regions were intending to tamper with the collage by adding their friends and relatives ahead of the elective convention in August this year.
