President Lazarus Chakwera on Saturday, 1st June 2024 officially launched the first ever Malawi’s Industrial Park in Lilongwe, saying once constructed it will enable Malawi to increase its forex generation through exports of various finished farm products.

Chakwera said the industrial parks will among others, reduce poverty that has accelerated due to the corrupt selling of Malawi’s indigenous companies which were set by the founding father, Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda.

Speaking during the official launch of Magwero Industrial Park and Dry Port in the area of Senior Chief Chitukula in Lilongwe, Chakwera said the project is one of the country’s areas of progress and that he will not hesitate to take action on any government official involved in delaying the project.

“In our vision of Malawi 2063, pillar number one of the three pillars for wealth creation to grow our economy is Industrialization to have factories which will be doing value addition to our farm produces.
