Chakwera receives warm reception in the Eastern Region By Kondanani Chilimunthaka President Lazarus Chakwera on Tuesday, 16th July, 2024 arrived in the Eastern political region with a warm reception from the people in the region. President Chakwera who had stopovers in Balaka and Mangochi Boma, assured the gatherings that his visit for the region is aimed at establishing the challenges faced by the residents and discuss with various leaders and stakeholders on how best some of them can be addressed. Speaking at Mangochi Boma on his way to Chikoko-Bay, President Chakwera said Malawi is one nation, urging all Malawians to exercise unity of purpose for proper development of the country. “I must thank you for remaining strong in the face of various challenges the country is facing. Let us all exercise unity of purpose for the development of our country” said President Chakwera. Earlier in the day, President Chakwera attended the Sub-Region Catholic Bishops Conference held at the Inspector General’s Ground at Area 30 in the Capital Lilongwe where he expressed gratitude towards the relationship between Malawi and neighboring countries including during the times of cyclones and the recent tragedy that claimed the life of the country’s former Vice President and eight others in Chikangawa forest.
