And the dividends that Malawi has benefited from your friendship have been rich, including the recent decision by the International Monetary Fund to grant
Malawi an Extended Credit Facility that has already started attracting budgetary support, ” he said.

The president talked about the dividends that Malawi has benefited from friendship with the donors, including the recent decision by the International Monetary Fund to grant Malawi an Extended Credit Facility that has already started attracting international investments and budgetary support into the economy.

“Whether your role in that outcome was big or small, I want you to know that we do not take any of it for granted. And I know that this is just one example, which is why I insisted that all of you come tonight, because even beyond the ECF, each of you have been immense in your support to Malawi in ways that are too many to
mention individually, but all of which have been indispensable to Malawi’s ability to weather multiple storms,” he said.
