Paramount chief Kaduya has hailed state President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera for putting the welfare of chiefs at heart.

Paramount chief Kaduya made the remarks in Phalombe district during the meeting with the Director of Strategic Planning in the Malawi Congress Party – MCP Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma.

Speaking during the meeting, paramount chief Kaduya said that all chiefs in Phalombe district will continue to support the government in the implementation of its developmental agendas.

The senior chief said that some roads in the district need to be rehabilitated as well as the construction of office for paramount chief Kaduya and electrification of the court as some of the key developmental projects that need attention.

The chief further pointed out the K150,000 mtukula pankhomo which has benefited more people in her area, believing that the gesture will go a long way in helping people to recover from the effects of cyclone Freddy.

“I would like to inform you our minister that as chiefs we work with the government of the day and we are really in support of all developmental projects which this government in implementing in the country,” said the paramount chief Kaduya.

On his part, senior chief Nazombe applauded the Chakwera led government for the distribution of the maize , saying that this has helped to alleviate hunger in his area.

The chief has since asked the government to consider providing more food relief items.

During the MCP meeting, Director of strategic planning Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma donated a cow to chiefs.

Ng’oma said that the gesture has been done to thank chiefs for the crucial role they are playing in the development of the country.

Some of the notable MCP officials present at the meeting include; Charles Josh,Kondi Msungama,
Kelita Kanyandula,Babu Khamisa and other regional officials from the southern region.

The chiefs who attended the meeting include; Senio chief Jenala, Senior chief Nazombe, Senior Chief Mkhulambe, T/A chiwalo, T/A Nyezelera, T/A Namasoko, T/A kalezela, T/A Mkhumba, T/A phwelemwe, Sub T/A kasongo, Tamani , khando ,Nyambalo ,Maoni among others.

Former chairperson for Mhlako wa Alomwe Leston Mulli also attended the meeting.
