Sweet news. Mzuzu block leaders have assured President Lazarus Chakwera that they will continue working with the government, to help implement it’s various development projects.

The block leaders made the remarks when they met Chakwera at Mzuzu State Lodge, on Saturday.

Speaking at the ceremony, a representative of the block leaders, Senior Thomas Mvula said block leaders are not politicians but they have been moved to action by a solid development foundation, that has been laid down by the president.

“We are happy to host you in Mzuzu. We thank you for the good works that you are doing in Mzuzu such as a good road network. You are also distributing relief Maize flour to our people. This is very commendable,”

Mvula then made a please for the rehabilitation of Mzuzu Stadium.

“We are very saddened that we can’t watch sporting activities at the facility, please consider us,” he emphasized.

He also asked President Chakwera to consider the implementation of soft loans through National Economic Empowerment Fund (NEEF) as a means to financial inclusion.

Taking his turn, Gift Desire Nyirenda, Mayor of Mzuzu City said the block leaders are very important because they are a catalyst for development.

“These people receive not even a single penny for the good job they are doing. Please consider them to be getting a monthly honararia as a token of appreciating them,” he said.

Deputy Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture Owen Chomanika thanked the president for deciding to host the block leaders and share notes with them.

“Block leaders are foot soldiers for development,” he said.

Addressing them, President Chakwera described the block leaders as an important arm of government.

“You are very important because you always have the zeal to see things change,” he said.

He said his administration will continue working with the block leaders to help achieve the vision Malawi 2063 Agenda.

He assured the block leaders that he will look into their concerns through relevant authorities.
