President Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday 13th March 2024 hailed the partnership that continues to exist between his government and its various development partners including in provision for clean water, saying it will help to develop Malawi.

Speaking in Rumphi after conducting some government duties, President Chakwera said various developments being initiated and completed are complementing the 2063 vision that the country has embarked on.

Making remarks soon after inspecting the Thazima Water Supply Project in Rumphi district, that will be supplying water to about 20,000 households in the district and part of Mzimba district, Malawi leader said provision of clean water is crucial because it will help the communities to appreciate the symbiotic relationship that exists and a need to safeguard it at all times.

Chakwera said the country is looking forward to working together with various partners in order to get developed.

Speaking after the official symbolic opening of the three Teacher Training Colleges of Rumphi, Mchinji, and Chikwawa, which was held at Rumphi TTC, Chakwera said he is distributing developments to all constituencies in the country regardless of political parties the Members of Parliament to particular constituencies do belong to, because his heart is on serving all Malawian people without looking at one’s affiliation.

“I am doing all this because the responsibility to develop all areas in the country so that we prosper together is what I promised and what you, Malawians gave me to do. There is no single MP who can claim that I have not initiated developments in his or her constituency because every development that an MP can show to have done through the CDF, just know that the developments I promised are being implemented” Said President Chakwera while encouraging constituents to get accountability of their MPs to the fund.

In his speech, Chakwera said effective developments can be done if citizens are well educated and trained.

“Therefore today, I am happy to officially open the three Teacher Training Colleges which we have completed in all the three regions, having Chikwawa in the South, Mchinji in Central region, and Rumphi TTC here in Rumphi with computer labs for modern teaching technologies” Added the President while saying Malawi needs skilled labour to achieve 2063 vision.

Chakwera has since commended all partners who have contributed to the construction of the three TTCs.

In her remarks, the Education Minister, Madalitso Wirima disclosed that the three colleges have taken the number to eleven, thereby increasing the annual intake capacity to 6,290 from 4,490.

Shen then thanked the President for promoting some teachers and initiating teachers housing project which is expected to see the construction of 10,000 houses across the country.
