By Kondanani Chilimunthaka President Lazarus Chakwera on Wednesday 20th March 2024 hosted chiefs from three districts of the Central region namely: Kasungu, Ntchisi, and Dowa at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe to discuss several issues bordering Malawi’s development. Speaking during the interface, President Chakwera reaffirmed the commitment he has to the nation in developmental transformation regardless of political, regional, and religious affiliations. On their part, chiefs through the Minister of Local Government, Unity and Culture thanked President Chakwera for the opportunity to have an audience with him at the Palace, saying it gave them a platform to voice out challenges and highlight the successes Malawi is attaining under the leadership of President Chakwera. Chimwendo said such interfaces are significant as chiefs play a great role in propelling initiatives for development and sustainability in their respective communities. While President Chakwera was in the Northern region, he also engaged chiefs in a similar interface.
