By Kondanani Chilimunthaka President Lazarus Chakwera left the country on Friday, 3rd May 2024 through Kamuzu International Airport for Dallas, Texas, United States of America where he will attend a four-day U.S-Africa Business Summit. Malawi leader said the summit will help to boost the ATM Strategy, through Americans coming over to work with Malawians in partnership for Malawi to produce more and add value for export. Speaking at KIA before flying to America, Chakwera said Malawi stands to benefit a lot from the summit as through similar meeting, it has already started to yield fruits with the Millennium Compact which will start this month-end for road projects across the country. “The summit is critical in order for us to take advantage of the fact that Malawi business people and American business people can enter into certain agreements, and I am happy to learn that a number of business people in Malawi have gone to the USA to attend this summit. I am also happy that we can as a country benefit from American investment in this country just like already are, in various fields” Confidently said President Chakwera. The U.S-Africa Business Summit brings together public and private business captains and investors with a goal to promote an ongoing dialogue between the private and public sectors in Africa to accelerate collective efforts towards realizing the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development and Agenda 2063: The Africa We want, of the African Union. The four-day Summit from 6th to 9th May 2024 is to be conducted under the theme “U.S-Africa Business: Partnering for Sustainable Success” with an aim of catalyzing sustainable business partnerships between U.S and Africa.
