Kondanani Chilimunthaka President Lazarus Chakwera has addressed the nation, updating on the missing plane that had the country’s State Vice President, Saulos Chilima on board to attend the burial of late renown lawyer and former Cabinet member, Ralph Kasambara in Nkhata-Bay. In his address, Chakwera described the situation as heartbreaking to everyone, but clung to his faith in God that there will be survivors in the accident. Meanwhile President Chakwera has disclosed that he has engaged the country’s international development partners including US Government, British Government, Government of Israel, Norwegian Government, and other neighboring countries to offer help to relocate the missing MAF TO3 plane of the Malawi Defence Force. “I know this is a heartbreaking situation. I know we are all frightened and concerned. I too am concerned. But I want to assure you that I am sparing no available resource to find the plane, and I am holding to every fibre of hope that we will find survivors. I know that some media outlets have reported that the search and rescue operation has been suspended, but this is false. MDF soldiers are still on the ground carrying out the search and I have given strict orders that the operation should continue until the place is found” said President Chakwera in his address. The President has since urged Malawians to get official updates from the Malawi Defence Force officials who are overseeing the operation.
