Chakwera harnesses private sector potential By Kondanani Chilimunthaka In his quest to make sure Malawi move from being an importing nation to an exporting country, President Lazarus Chakwera has intensified establishment and encouragement of mega farms across Malawi. One such mega farms in the country is Demeter Farm which is stretched on a land of about 7,000 hectares of which 600 is used for growing sweet beans in the area of Traditional Authority Mkaya in Balaka district. Visiting the farm on Thursday, 25th July 2024, President Chakwera expressed satisfaction that the vision to have mega farms and harnessing private sector potential is complementing the increase in sustainable job creation, and inclusive wealth for a new Malawi. “The main reason my administration prioritized mega farms as the surest way to increase agricultural productivity was the guarantee we received from private sector investors of their readiness to complement our efforts” said President Chakwera.
