Minister of Tourism Vera Kamtukure who was formerly UTM member has today joined the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) at a function which took place at the party headquarters in Lilongwe. Welcoming Kamtukule, MCP Secretary General, Elsenhower Mduwa Mkaka said was so impressed with the Minister’s decision to join MCP. “This Signifies one thing , that Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s popularity and that of the party is growing everyday people are seeing more reason to join the party and to join the classes chapter in this effort to develop this country,” he said. Mkaka said this also tells of trust that people have in MCP and its style of leadership. During the same press conference Kamtukure said was joining the party to support the president Dr Lazarus Chakwera. She said it is the prerogative of the President to appoint people in the cabinet. “That’s what the Constitution says. And I will not say much about that, but like I said, I want to assist President in his endeavor to make sure that Malawi is free for all. Malawi is economically viable. Malawi is going to the place that it truly belongs, and I will be one of them,” she said. Mkaka said Malawi Congress Party (MCP) under President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera continue gaining ground. He said after winning Karonga and Mangochi by elections , Chakwera continue making surprises, this time now it’s not a by elections by rather catching a big fishes. Chakwera yesterday welcomed Deputy Director of legal affairs Oscar Taulo at a function which took place in Mponela. While joining MCP, Taulo said was so happy to associate with and join MCP a party which is doing well in terms of developments. Taulo said Lilongwe is no longer the same under his leadership. He said its better people should support him wholeheartedly.
