Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences says the 2nd Research and Innovation Week which was held between August 12th to 14th, 2024 at it’s main campus, was successful.

The event was held as a cerebration of catalyzing potential of research and Innovation for national progress and development.

This is contained in a press statement signed by Madalitso Tsakama, head of research and innovation at the university.

The statement further said that the platform provided an opportunity for the university to showcase it’s research and innovation projects and outputs as it continue to make significant contribution towards Malawi’s development aspirations as captured in Malawi 2063.

“Research and Innovation Week is also intended to cultivate and strengthen the culture of research and innovation among the staff and students of the University,” reads part of the statement.

Currently the university is involved in several research and innovation projects through it’s centres such as the University Innovation Pod (UnPod), Incubation Centre, Design Studio, Entrepreneurship Centre, Innovation Hub and Research Support Unit.

The innovation week also accommodated activities such as interactive workshops, panel discussions, a workshop on engineering design process and exhibition of research projects across various disciplines will be under the theme; “Research and Innovation for Wealth Creation”.
