A grouping under the banner, Concerned Citizens is demanding lawyer Alexious Kamangila to produce evidence of corruption to appropriate bodies to show seriousness about fighting corruption.
In a statement released on 20th October, 2024, the grouping is heavily concerned by the fact that lawyer  Kamangila is allowed to be an exception and is entertained by the office of Chief Justice to use mob justice to move the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and Chief Justice office to take action on baseless allegations against High Court and Supreme Court of Appeal.
“We write herein about the illegality of mob justice in Malawi, the mental health of Mr. Kamangila, the incompetence of the Judicial Service Commission and the Legal Affairs Committee to handle criminal cases of corruption, and we finally demand that Mr. Kamangila should produce evidence of corruption to appropriate bodies if he is serious about fighting corruption,” the letter states.
The letter demands lawyer Kamangila to lodge a formal complaint with JSC against the Judges and the lawyers within 3 days from the date of hereof, and the complaint should be accompanied by evidence of corruption capable of proving his allegations beyond reasonable doubt.
“Before tendering such evidence to your office, he should make it public on his Facebook page so that the public should understand the basic of his allegations,” the letter demands.
The letter further states, in any criminal offence, evidence is supposed to be deposited with law enforcement agencies such as Malawi Police Service and Anti-Corruption Bureau, as in this case lawyer  Kamangila is free to pass through the same route to present his positions on the matters revolving around evidence rather than using to choose the use of mob justice.
“The other point that shows that Mr. Kamangila and his gang of bad losers are not lawyers worthy the salt is that they are passing final judgements against both the judicial officers and lawyers alike, without first allowing the impugned officers of the law to be heard,” the letter further states.
The letter also said Judicial Service Commission (JSC) and Legal Affairs Committee (LAC) of Parliament have no legal competence to handle criminal cases of corruption, as these bodies deal with administrative and not criminal cases.
The grouping therefore urge that if lawyer Kamangila does not file a formal complaint with JSC, accompanied by evidence of corruption, he should be dismissed as a busybody and lunatic who should waste JSC precious time.
“By copy of this letter, the Malawi Law Society (MLS) is requested to take disciplinary action against Mr. Kamangila for conduct bringing the profession of the law into disrepute and for demonizing and scandalizing judicial officers without basis,” the letter concludes.
