President Chakwera returns home from UAE after securing G to G fuel facility

Malawi leader , President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has returned home from the successful tour of duty in the United Arab Emirates.

Chakwera while addressing the media at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) described the trip as successful having signed a number of working agreements.

Chakwera said he is hoping that the issue of fuel shortages will be the song of the past.

“I had the privilege of meeting with the President, meeting with various leaders in the UAE, and particularly those connected with what we need most in terms of fuel availability and stability in this country, and that we also had others to do with various types of investment, which we believe that in days that are Coming, MOUs will be signed to that effect. But i am very happy that we were able to do this,” he said.

Chakwera and the First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera departed Abu Dhabi through the Al Bateen Executive International Airport after concluding bilateral discussions with Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.

The talks focused on finding lasting solutions to the persistent fuel shortage affecting Malawi,among others in areas of agriculture and food security,infrastructure development and enhanced trade agreements.

During the departure, the Ambassador for Kuwait and Gulf countries (excluding Qatar), Younos Abdul Karim, said the discussions aligned directly with Malawi’s 2063 agenda.

Upon his return, President Chakwera received a warm welcome from various officials, including Minister of Trade Sosten Gwengwe, Minister of Homeland Security Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, Minister of Agriculture Sam Kawale, Deputy Secretary to the Office of the President and Cabinet Dr. Janet Banda, Mayor of Lilongwe City Her Worship Esther Sagawa, along with chiefs and other senior government representatives.
