The Lilongwe City Mayor His Worship Councillor Richard Banda on 8th March 2024, presided over the Grant signing ceremony between the Government of Japan and Lilongwe for the provision of a second-hand Ambulance in Lilongwe City. Speaking during the ceremony, His Worship the Mayor applauded the Japanese Embassy for the provision of funds to import the ambulance which is crucial for referrals from all city clinics to Bwaila and Kamuzu Central Referral hospitals. Lilongwe City Mayor Richard Banda Meanwhile Ambassador of Japan to Malawi, His Excellency Yoichi Oya said the government of Japan is very happy to help Lilongwe City in upgrading it’s health services and that the Government of Japan will always be available to support Malawi to achieve the goal of “MALAWI 2063” agenda. On the other hand, Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Benson Chisamile expressed gratitude towards the donation and urged the Council to make proper use of the ambulance for referrals within the City.
