Malawi leader President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has arrived in Malawi after the successful tour of duty from United States of America (USA) and Nairobi Kenya.

President Chakwera said more stakeholders are expected to arrive in the country to invest in clean energy.

President Chakwera said there are more gains which the trip has registered which include the rolling out of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCA).

Chakwera, left Malawi on Friday 3 May , 2024 for the US-Africa Business Sumnit in Dallas, Texas, United States of America.

The summit took place from 6th to 7 May 2024, at the invitation of the US Government. The meeting provided an opportunity for Malawi to court foreign direct investments into Malawi’s economy and the post-disaster response plan that was launched few weeks at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe.

In addition to participating in the Summit, Chakwera held bilateral talks with various leaders in the US Government and US
Business Community. The talks focused on strengthening Malawi-USA cooperation in the achievement of Malawi’s economic self-reliance through the substitution of imports and aid for the export and trade of value-added products in line with Malawi 2063.

On his return home, President Chakwera passed through Nairobi, Kenya, where he addressed the Africa Fertilizer and Soil Health (AFSH) Summit on 9th May 2024, at the invitation Dr. William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya.
