Lilongwe based local NGO, Tingathe over the Weekend graduated 50 students in various vocational skills. The skills include tailoring, basic computer skills, carpentry and joinery just to mention but afew.

Speaking during the function, Tingathe Board chair , Dr Margaret Wakazili underscored the importance of entrepreneurship skills to young people.

“There is need for people to know that young people become empowered when they have skills and it pains me when I see young people selling merchandise for their personal living that is why we are urging our young people especially girls to register with us and get specialised skills for their future, ” she said.

Also speaking during the same function , Tingathe Director of programs and operations Aubrey Lindeire said Tingathe was grateful to see young people gratuating from the Institution.

Tingathe is a non-governmental organization that partners with peri-urban communities to build wealth that sticks. Tingathe works with young people, community leaders, women in small businesses, and school-going young children to empower them with various skills that will enable them to thrive in their communities.

The Tingathe Poverty Graduation model aspires to engage with youth in and out of school in their individual and collective journey towards self-reliance and socio economic wellbeing.

The NGO focuses on equipping young people with the capacity to make well informed decisions and about their present and future and find their position as leaders that are integral to the positive transformation of their communities from poverty to prosperity.
