Martha Chizuma (L) leading the sweeping exercise in Balaka By Mary Makhiringa Balaka, Mana: Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) and Balaka District Council on Thursday, conducted a clean- up exercise around Balaka town where civil society organisations, government officials and market vendors participated ahead of Anti-corruption Day commemoration to held on Saturday.. In her message, Director General for ACB Martha Chizuma urged all Malawians to embrace mindset change in the fight against corruption and be vigilant in reporting corrupt practices. “To some it may be a lost course, but from us at the bureau there is hope, as we are making make positive strides in fighting corruption. “Fight against corruption is for everyone and this is why we thought of engaging all through the clean-up campaign so that as we are sweeping around the town, we are also sweeping out all corrupt practices for all,” she added. On his part, District Commissioner, Tamanya Harawa emphasised on unity in the fight against corruption and said children should also be taught on the negative impact of corruption so that “Malawi should plant a corrupt free generation,” On Saturday the ACB will also commemorate 25 years of existence in the fight against corruption in Malawi.
