Dr Ken Zikhale Ng’oma on the ground A member of parliament for Nkhata-bay South constituency Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma has urged chiefs in his constituency to be the pioneers of development,as they are key in decision making aspects. Ng’oma made the remarks on Wednesday after meeting over 300 chiefs under Traditional Authority Malengamzoma, Zilakoma and senior chief Fukamapiri. Ng’oma said he decided to engage chiefs in order to remind them of their role in the development of the country. Ng’oma who is also the Homeland Security minister highlighted that it was important to make developmental plans for the year with chiefs as they are key in the development of the country. “Am really delighted that we have mapped the way forward with chiefs on various developmental projects that we are planning to implement because chiefs are important in decision making,” He said. Speaking during the meeting, senior chief Fukamapiri commended Ng’oma for the developmental projects that have been initiated in his area. The senior chief added that traditional leaders are true partners of government as they are important in decision making that are critical in the development of the country. On his part,Traditional Authority Zilakoma commended Ng’oma for engaging chiefs in order to make developmental plans as the year begins. T/A Zilakoma also thanked Ng’oma for his effort in making sure that fertilizer gets to the people in a good time. Meanwhile, Traditional Authority Malengamzoma has since asked government to consider elevating chiefs in his area. Ng’oma who was accompanied by the presidentia advisor on political affairs Fred Mkalangiza engaged chiefs after distributing food and non -food items to over 600 elderly people as part of Christmas and new year celebrations.
