Dont dare to interrupt SONA The National Advocacy Platform (NAP) has made a strong appeal to the embattled Democratic Progressive party. This follows swearing words from DPP insinuating that they are ready to cause havoc if Leader of opposition Kondwana Nankhumwa continue working on that position. NAP chairperson , Benedicto Kondowe says Parliament is a house where national issues are discussed. Kondowe warned the opposition against sabotaging the presentation of the President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) and the 2024/25 national budget. Kondowe said the CSOs are well informed that the opposition plans to make parliament ungovernable because of their political fights but warned against taking the political fights to a house that is supposed to be discussing issues affecting Malawians. Kondowe urged DPP to settle their political infighting outside Parliament since as Parliamentarians are there to make laws and other relevant business. Recently NAP acknowledged the Minister of Finance’s commendable efforts in restoring the economy and fostering public confidence, including securing Extended Credit Facility (ECF) from the IMF and implementing strategic projects with the World Bank and EU. NAP gave a thumbs up to Government for inclusive pre-budget consultations which demonstrated a commitment to diverse governance, emphasizing transparency and collaboration.
