President Chakwera is a forgiving leader, says Ken Msonda

Prominent political figure in Malawi’s political landscape, Kenneth  Msonda has described President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera as a humble and forgiving leader.

Msonda, former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) National Governing Council (NGC) Executive Member made the remarks on Friday at a function where President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera hosted chiefs from Rumphi District at Mzuzu State Lodge where he was also unveiled as a new member of Malawi Congress Party (MCP).

“You are the only leader who visited your predecessors after getting the seat of power. You paid visits to Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika and Dr Bakili Muluzi” said Msonda.

“You are such a good leader, you don’t keep grudges.”

Msonda said he is not a novice to the MCP fold as he has MCP blood from way back.

He said said he is home where he belongs.

“This is the time for Chakwera to rule, let us all support him,” he emphasized.

“There is always one president at a time.”

Welcoming Msonda, President Chakwera said the party is ready to work with him.

“You said you are here to work with us, well the party is ready to work with you,” said the Malawi leader.

“I don’t hold grudges against anyone. I have gone even after those that spoke I’ll about me. I am here to work and represent the interests of all Malawians.”

Traditional Authority (T/A) Mwamlowe said as Rumphi Chiefs coaxed Msonda to work with the Chakwera led administration because he’s development conscious.

“What we want is nothing but development. We want him to work with the current government to bring development to our area,” he said.
