By Kondanani Chilimunthaka President Lazarus Chakwera in his quest to achieve the ATM Strategy which is focusing on Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining, continues to strengthen the bilateral relationship between Malawi and other countries. On Tuesday, 9th April 2024, Chakwera received letters of credence from four non-resident Diplomatic Envoys from countries of Brundi , Gambia, United Mexican States, and Kingdom of Spain at Kamuzu Palace in capital Lilongwe. According to the State House Spokesperson, Anthony Kasunda, the bilateral relationship with other countries is making Malawi to be connected to the rest of the world, and an advancement towards achieving the ATM Strategy initiated by President Chakwera. “The President recently launched Agriculture, Tourism, and Mining (ATM) Strategy, and for us to achieve that, we need to go into cooperation with different countries” Said Kasunda. On her part during the presentation of the letters of credence to the President, the High Commissioner for Gambia, Fatoumata Jahumpa Ceesay applauded Chakwera for promoting women into high public positions. Additionally, Ceesay said her country is ready to work with Malawi in various areas including Agriculture, Oil, and Mining. Further she said Gambia is ready to help Malawi eradicate housing problems. Meanwhile, Ceesay has extended an invitation to President Chakwera to visit Gambia. Also presenting their letters of credence on Tuesday to President Lazarus Chakwera were Ms. Natividad Isabel Pena Bonilla (Spain), Ms. Evelyn Butoyi from Brundi, Ms. Sera Valdes Bolano from the United Mexican States. Writing on his official Facebook page, President Chakwera said he looks forward to productive cooperation with the new representatives in Agriculture, Tourism, Mining, education, health, infrastructure development, and social exchange.
