President Chakwera calls for innovation in dealing with challenges Malawi is facing

Malawi President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has challenged Malawians to be innovative and find ways of solving our problems using our own solution.

The president said this at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe during the commemoration of World Creativity and Innovation Day a function which was initiated by the Department of Innovations and Creativity (DIC) in the Office of the President and Cabinet, in collaboration with stakeholders.

During the function the president challenged Malawians to be innovative and create their own ways in solving Malawi problems.

During the function, the president urged private sector to support innovators.

“I have a very brief message today first as country lets use Innovation to solve our own problems secondly those with money support this initiative,” said the Malawi leader.

The president cited a number of innovators whom he said has done more in ensuring Malawi to be self sustainable.

World Creativity and Innovation Day is a global United Nations (UN) Day, celebrated on April 21 every year, to raise awareness around the importance of creativity and innovation, in problem solving with respect to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

The day gives an opportunity to Malawians to showcase their creativity and innovation in various aspects of human development.

This year, the theme of World Creativity and Innovation Day is “step out and innovate.” World Creativity and Innovation Day has been observed by citizens and organizations in over 50 countries since 2002.
