UN Secretary General condoles President Chakwera over the demise of Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima

The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has sent condolence messages to the Malawi State President following the Untimely demise of Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima and the eight others.

António Guterres said he is deeply saddened by the tragic death of Dr. Chilima, who untill his death , was Vice President of the Republic of Malawi, and nine others, in an aeroplane crash on 10 June in the Chikangawa forest in Malawi.

“The Secretary-General conveys his sincere condolences to the Government and the people of Malawi for the loss of Vice President Chilima. He also extends his condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased,” reads the statement in part.

According to the statement, which Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson has signed on behalf for the Secretary-General, the United Nations stands in solidarity with Malawians in this difficult period.

Just recently , the U.S. Embassy Lilongwe also conveyed condolence messege to President Chakwera saying was deeply concerned by the news that the plane carrying VicePresident Saulos Klaus Chilima and nine others went missing.

“We are working with the Government of Malawi to offer all available assistance, including the use of a U.S. Department of Defence C-12 aircraft. We join President Chakwera in his prayers during this time,” he reads the statement.
