The Executive Permanent Council of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), has assured His Excellency, Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi, that the Catholic Church will continue praying for him and the country at large, as the nation continue to mourn the loss of the late, Right Honourable. Dr Saulos Klaus Chilima.

ECM President Desmond Tambala, made the remarks on Tuesday at Kamuzu Palace in Lilongwe, where he led a delegation that has joined many delegations from various sectors, that have consoled President Chakwera over the last fortnight since the death of the former Vice President.

“Our coming was to convey our condolences to the head of state but also to assure him of our prayers that as Catholic Church during this time, we are praying for him and also for the nation,” Tambala told the media after the meeting.

“We are also praying for the families of those who passed on in the plane accident.”

Presidential Advisor on Religious Affairs Reverend Brian Kamwendo, said during the interaction, President Chakwera also took time to also console the Catholic leaders for the death of Chilima, who was also a devout member of the Church.
