Some United Transformation Movement, (UTM) members express deep concern regarding the recent decisions made by party leadership, saying this has been done without proper consultantion as they feel that they are left behind and deliberately kept in dark.

In a statement released on 17th July, 2024 says the actions appear to be driven by personal animosity rather than the interest of the party and it’s members.

“We believe that some of these decisions are premature and coming at a sensitive time, just a month after the passing of our visionary leader, the late Right Honorable Dr. Saulos Klaus Chilima, who played a crucial role in shaping the party’s vision and values,” reads part of the statement.

The statement further said, the coming in of Democratic Progressive Party, (DPP) senior official Dalitso Kabambe is an alarming and questionable issue as it lacks transparency, as rumors are circulating that he (Kabambe) might occupy the position of party’s president despite him being a long-standing affiliate of DPP.

The concerned members therefore demands explanation weather the decisions aligns with Chilima’s ideals and aspirations for the party, otherwise they are betraying Chilima’s legacy and principles that UTM was founded upon.

Therefore they are urging the leadership to reconsider the decisions and engage in meaningful consultation with all stakeholders to ensure that the party’s future is determined by it’s members, not just a few individuals.
