Concerned teachers hails government for addressing their concerns

The Concerned Teachers of Malawi (CTM) has commended government through the Teachers Council of Malawi (TCM)for their proactive response to the reductions in registration and licensing fees for primary school teachers from 20 thousand kwacha to 10 thousand kwacha and students from 15 thousand kwacha to 10 thousand kwacha.

Addressing a news conference in Lilongwe on Thursday, CTM Secretary General Azees Losa commended the Teachers Council’s initiative in accommodating teachers without smartphones by introducing hard copay application forms.

Losa appreciated the Teachers Council for introducing alternative payment methods for registration and licensing fees through TNM Mpamba and Airtel Money which has simplified the process and make it more accessible to all educators.

Losa has since urged all teachers in the country to prioritise registering and licensing as stipulated in the education act of 2013 saying it is crucial for professional standards and compliance with regulatory requirements.

He added that CTM remains committed to collaborating with Teachers Council of Malawi, Teachers Union of Malawi, Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to address the ongoing issues affecting teachers as well as promote a conducive environment for teaching and learning in the country.

The registration period start from June 30 to September 30 2024.

Ministry of Education Public Relations Officer, Mphatso Nkuonera says government is very committed to provide quality services for it’s citizens.

“We have a number of programs and initiatives aimed at improving the delivery of services in the education sector. It’s very encouraging to receive such complements from some quarters.
