Member of Parliament for Chitipa South constituency, Werani Chilenga has condemned Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) for poor implementation of projects which greatly drained the public resources. Chilenga said this in Lilongwe during parliamentary deliberations on Tuesday. Chilenga gave example of Chipasula area 23 road which lasted only few months before it was washed away. Chilenga praised government for its effective implementation of infrastructure development projects aimed at improving the lives of Malawians. He highlighted road construction as a key example of the administration’s efforts to deliver high-quality infrastructure that meets public needs. “Even if the country had access to billions of Kwacha, without proper implementation, projects would still fail to serve their purpose,” Chilenga said. The legislator further noted that in the past, some public infrastructure projects were poorly executed, resulting in substandard outcomes, ultimately leading to a waste of taxpayers’ money. He added that many of these projects now require additional funding for reconstruction, a situation he described as avoidable with proper oversight. However, Chilenga urged the government to sustain this momentum and ensure that all future projects uphold the highest standards to maximise the impact of public resources. The legislator went ahead accusing DPP of being negative all the time on issues of national importance. He said this is not strange considering that opposition does not become happy when Government is even making efforts of sustainable flow of fuel like Go to G.
