State President Dr Lazarus Chakwera on Friday presided over the swearing in of a newly appointed Minister of Labour, Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba with a call to service. Speaking during the ceremony which took place at Mzuzu State Lodge , Chakwera urged the newly appointed Minister to dedicate his life and remains selfless. Chakwera said there is need for the newly appointed Minister to deliver while reminding him to look upon his work deligently as every Malawian is expecting him to deliver. “Of course, there will be those who will tell you that your appointment is well-deserved, but you should not take this to heart. Similary, there will be those who will whisper behind your back that your appointment is undeserved, but you should also not take this to heart, for there is no doubt that you are a young man of such great agency and acumen as to make a good Minister of you,” Chakwera said. The Malawi leader therefore advised Engineer Mumba to understand that his appointment to cabinet is a call to service. “The most important being appointed a Minister is that your entire disposition to life must now change from self to service, for you now accept to carry the burdens and concerns of 20 million Malawians,” the Malawi leader concluded. President Chakwera appointed Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba on Wednesday following the resignation of Agnes Nyalonje.
