Founder and Overseer of Salvation for All Ministries International, Apostle Clifford Kawinga, has joined family, journalists, and well-wishers in mourning veteran broadcaster Brian Banda, who also served as Director General of the Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), following his untimely death.

In a Facebook post, Apostle Kawinga said Banda’s hard-hitting interviews showed he was not an ordinary person.

“The Church will always remember, honour, and celebrate the legacy you have left behind,” reads part of the post.

Kawinga added: “As your body is laid to rest, your work, your faith, and the impact you made will continue to speak long after this moment. Your light will continue to shine.”

Banda, 45, was appointed Director General in March 2026. During his tenure he committed to strengthening professional, credible, and public-interest broadcasting in Malawi.

During the burial, tributes were received from the Office of the President, Parliament, political leaders, and media stakeholders, who described him as one of Malawi’s most recognizable broadcasting voices.

Chief Secretary Justin Adack Saidi represented State President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika at the burial ceremony.
