Chakwera satisfied with development projects in Mangochi

President Lazarus Chakwera has expressed satisfaction with the construction work on Mangochi MonkeyBay-CapeMaclear road and other flagship developments underway in Mangochi district.

Chakwera who visited various projects being carried out in the district on Monday, 22nd July 2024, said the road to Cape Maclear will provide good access to people living in the area, fishing activities, and the tourism industry among others.

Addressing the crowd that gathered to witness the completion of the construction work on the 6km stretch from Monkey-Bay to Cape Maclear, the President assured people that the remaining stretch will be completed soon to allow full smooth access of the road, while commending the standards of the road which has been designed and constructed by Malawian companies.

“What is happening here is an example that we can construct long-lasting infrastructure with modern designs.

Cape Maclear is a beautiful place which is visited by both Malawians regardless of their affiliations, and visitors from other countries, because it is the development for all Malawians to benefit” said President Chakwera.

He then said he is aware that people of Cape Maclear and entire Mangochi district are facing acute food shortage, assuring them of his government’s intervention to ensure food is distributed to the hunger stricken families. However, Chakwera warned against corruption in identifying beneficiaries to the food asssitance.

President Chakwera has since urged people of Cape Maclear to get registered in the voters registration once MEC rollsout the registration process in September this year ahead of the 16th September 2025 elections.

Earlier in the day, President Chakwera visited Agri-Vest Chitakale Macadamia Farm, and New Mangochi District Council & Finance building.
