Recruits 2, 000 teachers Malawi President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has spelt out measures on how his Government intends to improve the education sector in the country. In his two hour address , Chakwera said his administration has managed to recruit about 2000 primary school teachers on permanent and 4,200 auxiliary teachers and trained 7, 304 Head and Deputy head teachers. The president said his Government has Expanded 70 Day Secondary school under the equity with quality and learning at Secondary (EQUALS). The president said in order to improve access to education, Government has increased students loan by 15.9% reaching about 26,000 students as well as continuing the construction of Mzuzu University Library whose progress is at 58% Chakwera said the Government has launched the construction of about 10,000 classrooms nationwide with funding from World Bank Chakwera Government has also constructed 66 new secondary schools across the country through the secondary Education Expansion for Development .
