By Kondanani Chilimunthaka Since its establishment in 2020 Shaping Our Future Foundation (SOFF) has been the help to over 2,500 students from across 150 public secondary schools in Malawi, earning a trust from various donors to partner the organization in ensuring vulnerable and less privileged students are reached especially girls. On Friday, 2nd February 2024 the Chinese Business Community in Malawi paid a courtesy call on Malawi’s First Lady, Madame Monica Chakwera at Kamuzu Palace where they presented a donation of K20 Million towards SOFF’s operations. Receiving the donation, Madam Chakwera thanked the Chinese Business Community living in Malawi for what she described as a timely donation as her organization continues to receive more requests for scholarships for needy students across the country. “I am pleased to inform you that despite the prevailing economic challenges, we still have friends that are holding our hands to keep the girl child in school. Today, I received a donation of K20 Million from the Chinese Business Community in Malawi towards promotion of girl child education. I continue to appeal to you all for more support in this noble responsibility” Said the First Lady in the message on her official Facebook page. Last week, best performing students under SOFF scholarship were rewarded at a function that was held at Blantyre Secondary School.
