President Chakwera welcomes Msonda in MCP, says holds no grudges at all

Malawi President Dr Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera on Friday welcomed former National Governing Council (NGC) member , Ken Chitatanga Msonda.

Msonda was a senior national executive member but he was fired from the party for allegedly attending the convention which was said to have not carried blessings from party leader, Peter Mutharika.

Welcoming Msonda, President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera commended Msonda for making such a decision of joining the party.

The President said numbers in development politics are so crucial.

“It is good to share and utilise the strength of numbers in developing Malawi. Thank you Mr Msonda for joining us and pledging to work for the good of Malawians,” he said.

Chakwera also called on political figures to resist the spirit of malice and vengeance in order to succeed, adding that he holds no grudge nor ill will towards anybody.

He said the only way the country can make meaningful economic strides, is if it focuses on development for everybody, irrespective of affiliation.

In his speech, Msonda said he decided to join MCP after noting how humble the President has been all along.

“The Bible says we must respect our elders. That’s why I have been supporting President Chakwera since he assumed office in 2020.

“Mr President, you are a humble and forgiving leader. You are the only leader to visit his predecessors. You paid visits to Prof Arthur Peter Mutharika, Dr Joyce Banda and Dr Bakili Muluzi, ” he said.
